Zero Money Down for Whole House Makeovers

NYS Financing

Thanks to a NY State program homeowners can get a whole house energy-efficiency makeover without spending any money upfront.

Free Home Energy Assessments and Financing on Energy Efficiency Improvements and Renewable Energy Installations

A home assessment is the first step towards improving a home’s efficiency and reducing energy bills. Long Island Green Homes and PSEG-Long Island offer homeowners FREE home energy assessments by a Building Performance Institute (BPI) accredited contractor

After your home assessment, you’ll receive a detailed report with recommendations for money-saving energy efficiency upgrades.

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) Green Jobs Green New York (GJGNY) Program is currently offering financing on 5, 10 or 15-year loans for homeowners who want to make the recommended energy efficiency improvements.  The principal on the loan can be paid back over time from monthly savings on your utility bill through an On Bill Recovery Loan arrangement or through a Smart Energy Loan. Ask your contractor for more details. This financing will be offered to loan applicants until available funds are exhausted.  To be eligible for the financing offer, loan applicants must have the work done by a NYSERDA approved, participating contractor.

If you have already received your home energy assessment, contact your participating contractor and ask financing loans to make your home more efficient, comfortable and save money on your energy bills.

An energy assessment can check your home for:

  • Air infiltration and ventilation
  • Heating and cooling equipment efficiency
  • Carbon monoxide levels and/or moisture problems
  • Insulation levels, air leaks, and drafts
  • Heating and hot water system efficiency
  • Central air conditioning efficiency
  • Distribution system/ductwork

This financing offer also applies to solar and battery energy storage systems.

Installing solar panels allows you to generate clean, renewable power for your home, and even sell excess power back to the utility, saving you money on your electric bills.  Battery energy storage systems can store the energy your solar panels produce as backup power in the case of an outage.  Modern heat pumps are also eligible for financing and can heat and cool more efficiently than older conventional equipment.

Plus, East Hampton’s Solarize program offers discounts on solar panels through local installer GreenLogic Energy.  Tax credits are available for both solar and energy storage systems, and NY State is offering additional incentives for energy storage paired with solar.
